The Uberabinha river basin is located in the mesoregion of Triângulo Mineiro (Minas Gerais, Brazil) and represents a fundamental water supply for Uberlândia City, the second most populous city in the state. Despite its important role in human development and economic activities, the Uberabinha river is negatively impacted. The present article aimed to conduct a bibliometric and scientometric survey regarding the water impacts and biological effects due to the pollution in the Uberabinha river. The bibliometric survey was carried out using the Google Scholar and Web of Science platforms, searching by the keywords "Uberabinha river", "pollution" and "water quality". A total of 46 manuscripts were identified, being the majority in the Google Scholar database, being that about 45% of them published as articles, and the other part as grey literature such as monographs, dissertations, and theses. The institution with the highest number of publications was the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), mainly associated with courses in Biology, Geography, and Chemistry. Many analyses of the water quality of the Uberabinha river were based only on physical-chemical criteria, and as a result, most publications do not observe the potential ecotoxicological effects on the biota. Therefore, considering the climate change scenario and the increase in water use throughout the river basin, more research must be carried out addressing the impacts on fauna and flora dependent on this ecosystem.
